1. The Ship Inn
The most famous of all the vegan restaurants in Newcastle, popular pub the Ship Inn has been serving exclusively vegan food since 2016.
Sitting in the best and most trendy part of the city (that’s the Ouseburn*), The Ship Inn serves up a bunch of pub-style classics, but all cruelty-free.
Top eats include jackfruit shawarmas, twice-cooked crispy fries, big burgers, excellent pizzas, and even a meat-free Sunday roast.
It also has board games, friendly staff, a small outdoor seating area (nice when the sun comes out), occasional DJs and live music, and a great range of craft drinks (though they’re not all vegan). And because you’re so close to all the Ouseburn nightlife here, this is a good place to start a party.
*The Ouseburn is the most hip and happening part of Newcastle. A small but surprisingly-packed area, it’s full of independent venues, craft-beer serving pubs, brunch spots, climbing centers, cozy cafes, and even a little petting zoo. For more on the area, get yourself over to our guides on:
(oh, and, the Ouseburn in general is great for vegan-friendly options—most menus here have at least a couple of decent vegan items)
